How to Clean a Dog's White Hair

A dog with white hair will look clean and healthy when you take care of its coat correctly. Leave its coat uncared for, however, and its white hair will highlight all the dirt it picks up. Bath your dog regularly and carefully using the proper equipment and procedure for a beautiful-looking white-haired dog.

Instructions

    • 1

Give your dog its favorite toy to play with to keep it happy and occupied while you thoroughly brush and comb his coat. Comb through any tangled or matted hair if this does not distress your dog. Alternatively, cut this hair away using dog-grooming scissors.

    • 2

Put on some clothes that you do not mind getting wet and place some towels or old cushions next to your bath to kneel on. Place a nonskid rubber mat in the bath.

    • 3

Lift your dog gently into the bath. Take the shower head down from its attachment, turn it on and adjust the temperature until it is lukewarm. Wet your dog's coat thoroughly, except for the head. Turn off the shower and wipe your dog's head and face with a clean, damp cloth until any dirt is removed.

    • 4

Squeeze enough mild pH-neutral dog shampoo onto your dog̵7;s coat to lather up his entire body. Use your fingers to massage the shampoo into your dog̵7;s coat, paying particular attention to the parts that are white.

    • 5

Turn on the shower once more and, after checking that it is still a lukewarm temperature, rinse all the shampoo from your dog. Run you fingers through its coat as you do so to ensure that you remove all the shampoo.

    • 6

Turn off the shower and apply a pH-neutral dog conditioner to the dog's coat. Lather this conditioner and rinse as you did with the shampoo.

    • 7

Thoroughly dry your dog's coat with towels by rubbing them firmly and gently over its body. Gently lift your dog out of the bath.
