Cute Puppy Haircuts

Puppies look adorable as it is, but when you give a puppy a cute haircut, it can look even more cuddly than before. The type of haircut you give to a puppy depends on the kind of coat the breed has. Some dogs already have long fur as pups, but other breeds do not get a full coat until they become older. Regardless of breed and coat type, you can find a cute haircut that works for your puppy.
  1. Teddy Bear Face

    • The teddy bear face is a type of puppy haircut in which the hair on the puppy's face remains bushy and long -- yet manicured -- while the rest of the puppy's fur on the body is cut shorter. The hair on the ears are cut shorter to help round out the puppy's face so it looks like a teddy bear. Shih Tzu puppies are notorious breeds for getting teddy bear face haircuts.

    Mohawk

    • You can give a puppy a tiny mohawk on its head or back, or both, by clipping the side fur short and leaving the hair down the middle longer. The hair that runs down the middle of the head or back should be in a straight line, and not so long that the fur falls down to one side. To achieve the mohawk, you will have to trim the middle fur so it can be styled up to a point and remain up.

    Pigtail Ears

    • Puppies that have long, floppy ears, such as cocker spaniels, can be given haircuts that make them look like they have pigtail ears. The fur on the body and face of the puppy is clipped or trimmed short, but the fur on the ears remains bushy and long. This haircut can be accessorized by placing small ribbon bows on the ears.

    Paw Cuts

    • Some puppies, such as Maltese and Poodles, can wear their fur differently around their paws. The leg warmer look is where the fur is left heavy on the paws and up a little ways on the leg, but then the rest of the fur on the body is cut shorter. This look accentuates the paws and almost makes an appearance of the puppy wearing socks.
