How to Keep White Pomeranians Clean

White Pomeranians are beautiful when clean and not so easy on the eyes when they become soiled. Tear stains, food stains and daily soiling can turn a white coat into an off white to orange color in relatively short time. However, a regular grooming routine, a quality diet and a few techniques to prevent heavy soiling can keep a white Pomeranian at the top of its class.

Feed a high-quality or organic kibble composed of real meat ingredients. Foods that are made from corn and fillers do not contain the necessary proteins and omega fatty acids necessary for healthy skin and coat. As a result, the coat becomes brittle and more likely to become soiled because it does not have the natural oils necessary to protect the hair and hair follicle. Use pet supplements or fish oil tablets to aid in increasing coat health, as well.

Incorporate a routine grooming and bathing schedule to keep the coat free from mats and debris that cause stains. Dead hair gathers dirt easy and dulls a healthy coat. Because Pomeranians have a double coat, brush coat daily and use a shedding blade once a week to remove dead and stained hair. Bathe the dog using a dog-safe whitening shampoo and conditioner once a month, and prevent daily soiling with dry bath shampoos or wipes. In addition, use a dog-safe tear-stain remover to keep eyes free from discoloration.

Use protective rain gear to prevent the dog's feet from becoming stained during outings, especially during bad or muddy weather. Use rain slickers to prevent rain from damaging the top coat and resulting in poor coat quality. Use natural cotton leashes and collars instead of leather to prevent staining the coat, as well. Applying an extra mist of coat protector before going on walks also reduces coat soiling.
