How to Trim a Bulldog

Bulldogs grow long, stiff whiskers on their face and chin. Whiskers help dogs react to the environment around them. Owners remove the whiskers to make their dog more attractive, especially for showing purposes. With a little patience and practice, removing the bulldog's whiskers with a pair of grooming scissors takes minutes. Trim once a month or as needed.

Instructions

Start to massage the dog's head by rubbing its ears in a circular motion. Continue by slowly moving down to the dog's body. Massaging the dog before the trim will relax the bulldog. Feel the body for relaxed muscles.

    • 2

Hold the dog's head in your hand by the bottom of the jaw.

    • 3

Hold the blunt-nosed grooming scissors flat against the dog's face about an inch out from the dog's skin.

    • 4

Cut off long whiskers on the chin or face moving slowly across the face to avoid cutting the dog's skin.

    • 5

Run your hand over the dog's face to feel if you missed any whiskers. Whiskers are stronger and harder than the dog's normal hair.

    • 6

Praise the dog for behaving. Consider treats or play as a reward.
