Things You'll Need
- Ribbon
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
- Spray starch
- Iron
- Thin yarn
- Rubber bands
Instructions
Cut a 10-inch length of ribbon from a 1/2-inch wide roll. The ribbon can be any color or pattern you choose, although it should be a sturdy fabric such as heavy cotton or satin.
Lay the length of ribbon flat on the table and spray with a coating of spray starch. Crisscross the ends of the ribbon over the center to create a bow shape, then press the ribbon down with a hot iron to set the starch and hold the ribbon in place.
Snip a short piece of yarn from the roll and lay it next to the ribbon. Pick up the ribbon and place it bow-side down on the yarn, wrapping the yarn vertically around the center of the ribbon. Secure the yarn with a single square knot at the back of the bow.
Slip a small rubber band over one free end of the yarn and tie the rubber band against the back of the bow with remaining end of the yarn. Tie two knots in the yarn to keep the rubber band from coming loose as you attach the bow to the dog's fur. Trim away any excess yarn to finish your hair bow.
