Instructions
Wet the Welsh corgi's hair before you comb it. Daily combing and brushing is recommended, especially during shedding season to stave off the tangling of the abundant fur.
Comb the corgi starting from the back of the dog and finish with the face. Hold the hair with your fingers and gently separate it before you comb it. Don't cut out tangles; this can lead to holes in the coat, which are undesirable if you have a show dog. Instead, try to untangle the knots using your fingers and de-tangling solution.
Bathe the corgi using dog-safe shampoo. Certain owners prefer to wash only the white parts prior to a show. Rinse well and wrap your corgi in a soft towel.
Dry the coat with a dryer. Dry with the direction of the hair growth, so the coat lies flat on the body.
Comb the dead hair out using a coarse comb. Switch to a finer comb and comb only in the direction of the hair growth.
Brush your Welsh corgi using a bristle brush.
Trim the excessive hair from the feet pads using a pair of blunt-nosed scissors or electric clippers. Give the feet a natural shape and avoid blunt marks. Trimming the hair between the feet pads prevents the accumulation of debris and dirt in this area.
Trim the whiskers short with a pair of scissors. However, most breeders don't trim the whiskers, according to Welshcorgi.com.
