How to Cut a Schnoodle's Hair

A schnoodle is a cross between a schnauzer and a poodle. These smart, fun-loving dogs are of various sizes, with coats that have different colors and textures. Part of grooming your schnoodle involves cutting its hair. This will help to keep the coat mat-free and soft. The style in which you cut your schnoodle's hair depends on your preference. Some owners take their dog to a professional groomer, but you can cut a schnoodle's hair on your own with the right tools and techniques.

Instructions

Give your schnoodle a bath, using a mild dog shampoo, then blow dry its coat on the lowest setting. Using a slicker brush, brush your dog's coat to untangle matted hair.

    • 2

Use a No. 4F blade to cut your schnoodle's hair. Place your dog on a firm table before you begin cutting. Cut the hair starting at the neck and continuing down the back, trimming in the direction that the hair grows. Continue to cut until you reach the tail, then start on the sides.

Trim your schnoodle's legs with a No. 10 blade. Trim the legs evenly, then turn your dog onto its back. Shave the chest, the underside of the legs and the neck to the desired hair length.

Hold the flap of the dog's ear and use the No. 4F or No. 10 blade to trim the hair downward. Carefully trim the inner ear flap, holding it between your fingers. Pluck the hair out of the ear canal with forceps. Use scissors to neatly shape the hair around the face.
