Instructions
Watch a professional dog groomer who has experience working with English springer spaniels. See how the dog groomer does the job before attempting to groom the dog yourself.
Bathe your English springer spaniel outside if possible. It will make bath time more enjoyable and less messy. Use specially formulated dog shampoo, and start with the underside of your English springer spaniel. Lather up the torso and then the head. Wash the legs and feet last. Towel dry as much as possible.
Brush your English springer spaniel often, especially during seasons of the year when its fur is shedding. Always brush in the direction of the fur growth.
Trim your English springer spaniel's fur in the direction of the fur growth. Using dog clippers, trim the neck, chin, head, ears, legs and body.
Be especially careful around the eyes and ears. Trim the top third of the underside of the ear to help keep it clean and free from dirt and bacteria.
Clip your English springer spaniel's nails using dog nail clippers. Only trim the very tip of each nail. Beyond the tip is the quick, which can be tough to see. If you clip the quick, it will be very painful and bleed. Use extreme caution.
