Brush your Malti-poo daily with a gentle dog brush. It has curly fur that can get tangled easily if exposed to something sticky or burrs and twigs. By brushing the fur you will be able to stop small matted clumps from starting, and get rid of them before they turn into large matted tangles. Give your dog a treat while you brush and make brushing a nightly routine.

Bath your Malti-poo once a week if it is outside often, or every other week if not. Using a dog shampoo and conditioner will allow your dog to get soft tangle-free fur without drying out its skin. Be sure to get around the paws and to be careful of your dogs eyes. Towel dry the dog and brush the fur before it dries.

Check your dog weekly for developing tangles. Prone places are behind the ears, under the legs, in the paws and around the collar. You can easily do this will a comb. If you do find a matted tangle, comb it out gently. If the area can't be combed, you may have to cut it. If the matted tangle is close to the skin, take the dog to a professional groomer.

Take your Malti-poo to be groomed professionally every six to eight weeks. The groomer will trim the hair down, clip the dog's paws, and brush the dog's teeth. Trimming the hair is the best way to keep the hair from getting too long and tangling.
