How to Groom a Cockapoo's Paws at Home

You should start grooming your dog when it is around 3 months old so it becomes familiar with the process and isn't startled when you start grooming in adulthood. After the first three months the paws should be groomed every two weeks. Cockapoos grow hair between their pads that becomes matted and collects bacteria. The matted hair can also be painful on which to walk. Taking care of your cockapoo will make you its best friend.

Instructions

Check between your dog's pads daily to see if any foreign objects are present. If you notice the cockapoo limping or whining, it may have something stuck. Pull it out gently.

    • 2

Trim the hair around the paws when the cockapoo is standing. Lift each paw, comb the fur out from between the toes and then trim to pad level.

    • 3

Pull the fur from the top of the foot through the dog's toes. Trim the fur to paw level.

Clip the tip of the nail. Be careful not to clip the pink part, which holds a nerve. When your cockapoo's nails click when walking across a hard surface, it's time for them to be cut. Dog-Behavior-Training.co.uk recommends cutting the nails every two weeks.
