How to Make a Bathrobe for a Dog

Bathing a dog is only half of the struggle. One of the more complicating parts of the grooming process is drying the dog before it soaks the floors and furniture. To create a comfortable and reliable drying aid for your dog, make a bathrobe. With a thick towel, you can create a bathrobe your dog can wear around the house after bathing or swimming.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Measure down the dog's back. Place one end of the tape measure on the collar line. Stretch the tape measure down the spine until you reach the beginning of the tail. Measure around the widest part of your dog's chest.

    • 2

Cut the thick towel to the measured length and width. Cut a strip of towel to 1 1/2-inches wide by two times the chest measurement.

    • 3

Place one strip of elastic at each corner of the towel. Continue to move elastic strips up each corner diagonally until the ends of each strip are running evenly along the edges of the towel. Use two straight pins at each end of each strip to hold them in place.

    • 4

Sew the elastic straps onto the towel section. Using a threaded needle, sew each strip end two to three times to secure them in place. Remove straight pins from the ends of the straps.

Loop elastic around each dog leg. Tie the strip of towel around the dog's stomach to hold the robe in place.
