Instructions
Apply a conditioning spray covering the entire coat. Brush the coat of your pet using a long-pinned teeth metal comb. Disentangled the coat properly and remove all mats from the undercoat. Check your dog's skin for scratches, injuries or any other abnormalities.
Prepare your dog for bathing. Place cotton balls into the pet's ears to prevent water from getting into its ear canals. Mix shampoo and a small amount of water in a small bucket. Apply the shampoo on your dog's dry coat using a sponge and avoid the eye area. Gently massage the coat starting from the top. Clean the anal glands.
Apply conditioner for a soft and shiny coat. Rinse the coat thoroughly using lukewarm water.
Pat your dog dry using a towel.
Cut your dog's hair when necessary. The hair of a standard poodle grows continuously. Shorter hair requires less care. Opt for the "lamb trim" which is a look commonly given to poodles. This style involves cutting the hair short on the body and leaving the hair slightly longer on the legs. Use scissors for the body and blades for the face, feet, tail and genital area. This cut is easy to maintain.
Remove the hair from your dog's ear canal by trimming or plucking it. Use ear cleaners and cotton balls to clean its ears. Apply ear cleaner on the outer part of the ear and gently massage the ear region. Use the cotton balls to clean the external part of the ear.
Clip your dog's nails using a dog nail clipper. Gently hold the paw in one hand, while cutting small pieces of his nail with your other hand.
Brush your dog's teeth regularly. Use up-down movements for front teeth. Clean back teeth performing circular movements. Take your dog to a specialist for periodical scaling.
