How to Groom a Schnauzer Poodle

The schnauzer-poodle is sometimes known as the schnoodle. This is a popular crossbreed because it can be an attractive dog and often combines the intelligence of the poodle with the friendliness of the schnauzer. No two schnoodles will be exactly alike, as they will carry the characteristics of both breeds in varying degrees. Your schnauzer-poodle will need careful grooming. They shed little hair, but their hair can become long and matted. Unless you groom the dog regularly, it can develop skin problems and even smell unpleasant. Therefore, it is important to make grooming a regular part of your dog's routine.

Bath your dog weekly. Use special dog shampoo and conditioner. Rinse out the shampoo and conditioner well, because the residue may irritate the dog's skin. Check that the area around the dog's ears are clean to protect against infection. Dry your dog with a hair dryer set on low heat. Rub a little extra virgin olive oil into the dog's fur.

Brush the dog regularly with a brush that has natural bristles. Gently untangle any matted areas with a comb. If necessary, use scissors to gently cut away any severely matted areas.

Trim the dog's fur with clippers. Start on the dog's back, then move to the sides. Use a shorter setting on the clippers to trim your dog's chest hair. Move under the front legs. Carefully cut away the long hair on the legs, as it can get dirty and matted.
