How to Whiten Dog Fur

Dogs that have a coat of white fur often lose that beautiful white shine as they get older. Age and dirt and grime can cause a dog with white fur to have a yellowish appearance. If your dog is a show dog or you simply want your dog to look healthy, groomed and clean, you will need to treat your dog's fur to get the coat back its original white color.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a warm bath for your dog. This can be in your own bathtub or a metal tub for the outdoors. Be careful not to make the bath too hot.

    • 2

Pour out the directed amount of whitening shampoo into your hand. Rub this through the dog's fur until the dog is completely covered in shampoo. Rinse the shampoo out of the dog's fur.

    • 3

Use a towel to dry your dog's fur thoroughly. Allow the dog to finish drying so the fur is completely dry.

    • 4

Apply some cornstarch on the dog's fur and work it throughout the fur until you cannot see any cornstarch left. Repeat this process once a week.
