Instructions
Brush the dog's coat to remove any dirt and debris on the fur. Start with a slicker brush to remove any mats, tangles and larger piece of debris. Remove any mats by brushing them out with a mat-breaker brush, a special type of brush that cuts through the mat to remove it without hurting your dog. Brush the coat with a bristle brush to remove any dead hair.
Wash the dog with a whitening shampoo made for dogs. This type of shampoo contains bluing agents to brighten white fur. Place the dog in a bathtub filled with 3 to 4 inches of warm water and wet its coat with a hand-held shower attachment. Lather the dog with the whitening shampoo, massaging the shampoo into the fur on its body and avoiding its face. Rinse the dog with lukewarm water to remove all of the shampoo from the fur.
Wipe the fur around the dog's eyes with a dampened washcloth to clean away tear stains on the white fur. Remove hard-to-clean stains around the eyes using special pet eye-stain removal wipes, found in pet stores. Wipe any dirt from the dog's face with the damp washcloth.
Dry the dog completely with a towel, removing as much moisture from its fur as you can. Dry and fluff the hair using a hair dryer and a bristle brush.
Sprinkle cornstarch over the dog's fur and massage it through the coat with your hands to keep the coat white after bathing. Brush the cornstarch out with a bristle brush.
Wipe the dog's fur between baths with a premoistened pet wipe, found in pet supply stores, to remove any stains or dirt from the coat. After wiping the dog, sprinkle cornstarch or a dry pet shampoo on its fur to whiten the coat and clean away dirt and oil.
