How Do I Groom a Pomeranian's Tail?

Pomeranians are small dogs with big hair. These dogs require quite a bit of grooming so their coats do not become tangled and matted, which is very bad for both the dog's coat and skin. The Pomeranian's coat should look fluffy and be trimmed so that it is rounded, with the tail up and over the dog's back. Take extra care with your Pomeranian's tail so that it looks as nice as the rest of the dog's coat.

Instructions

    • 1

Brush the Pomeranian's tail using a soft slicker brush. Use an upward motion when you brush the tail and go with the lay of the hair. This brush will remove dead hair and debris, as well as any tangles or mats that have formed.

Cut away any tangles or mats that you cannot remove with the brush.

    • 3

Trim away some of the hair at the base of the Pomeranian's tail. This will help the tail lie flat and will give it a neater appearance.

    • 4

Take the Pomeranian's tail hair in your hand and begin twisting it. Continue twisting the hair until you reach the end. Trim away about an inch of the end of the hair to remove any scraggly or dead ends.
