Instructions
Choose a location to bathe the dog. A bathtub, sink and utility tub are ideal places depending on the size of the dog.
Gather the materials needed and place them in the area where you'll bathe the dog.
Brush the dog thoroughly to remove mats and excess hair.
Place cotton balls in the dog's ears to prevent water from going into them.
Fill the tub or sink with lukewarm water to the level of the dog's knees. The water should be approximately 102 degrees.
Place the dog in the tub or sink and use the leash to hold it in place while bathing if needed.
Spray the dog's coat with water gently or use a cup filled with water. Thoroughly wet the coat.
Pour shampoo into your hands, and massage the dog's back and the rest of the coat thoroughly. Use a washcloth to clean small areas such as the face and paws. Avoid getting soap into the dog's eyes, mouth or ears.
Drain the water from the tub. Rinse the dog thoroughly with lukewarm water using a sprayer or cup filled with water.
Dry the dog with a towel and remove the cotton balls from its ears.
Dry the dog's ears with clean cotton balls.
