Things You'll Need
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Dropper
- Washcloths
- Dog shampoo
- Towel
Instructions
Drop four drops of hydrogen peroxide into your pointer's ear using a dropper. Fold the earflap down against the side of his head and gently massage in circles over the ear. This will help work the solution in the ear and break free dirt or waxy residue.
Lift up the earflap and use a clean washcloth to wipe down and remove dirt and waxy residue. Wipe down only the areas of the inside of the ear that are visible and don't push the cloth into the ear, as this can lead to damage. Your veterinarian should do deep inner ear cleaning.
Soak a washcloth in warm water and squeeze water out over your dog's ear. Repeat as needed so that the ear gets thoroughly dampened. Work 1 tsp. of dog shampoo into a lather with warm water and then rub the shampoo over your dog's earflap, working it into the short fur.
Rinse your dog's ears with a glass of water or soak a clean cloth and wring it out over the ear, repeating until all soap residue is removed. Pat the ear between a clean towel to soak up moisture. Repeat steps 1 through 4 with your pointer's other ear.
