Things You'll Need
- Paddle brush
- Dog grooming shears
- Bobby pin
Instructions
Remove any tangles from the hair on top of the dog's head with a paddle brush. Part the hair to one side, keeping the hair clamped between your fingers.
Use your other hand to position your dog grooming shears pointed down but away from the dog's face and eyes. Hold the blade against the edge of the section of hair at the level that you'd like the bangs to be shortest. Make sure you don't go shorter than eye level; otherwise, the hair will eventually get in the dogs eyes, which can pose a health risk.
Snip the shears shut in soft motions as you gradually move toward the end of the hair section. Hold the scissors at a 45 degree angle as you cut.
Gather the bangs and gently pin them to the side using a bobby pin. Because of the natural shape of an afghan hound's head, the hair is unlikely to stay in place on its own for too long and the pin will help keep it in place.
