Instructions
Wash your dog in the bath or shower. Use a made-for-dog shampoo that will be gentle on its skin. Be careful to avoid getting water in the animal's eyes or ears. Towel dry the pooch as much as you can. Blow dry the hair on a low setting, fluffing it with a dog comb or brush as you dry.
Shave the dog in the appropriate places to upkeep the lion cut. These spots should include the canine's back half, starting from the end of the last rib all the way back around its rump. Shave halfway up its tail, as well as down each of the legs to the ankles. When shaving, use a blade that works with your dog's coat. Most groomers, when trimming this look, will use a size 10 or 15 blade.
Brush out the hair that wasn't shaved, including the face, mane, pom pom tail and ankle hair. Keep the coat free from mats and knots with regular brushings. Always leave this hair natural and long, as trimming it isn't required for the lion cut.
Clean any tear stains or food from around the dog's mouth and eyes using a warm, wet cloth.
Trim the dog's nails using specialized trimmers, if you know how. Because it can be difficult to tell where the dog's nail quick is, consult a professional groomer or veterinarian before trying to trim them yourself.
