How to Make My Pomeranian's Hair Fluffy

If your pom's coat is matted and lacks the lustrous volume it once had, your dog may be ready for a makeover. Pomeranians are common show dogs and pets known for their thick fluffy manes, which can take some work to maintain. If the hair goes unwashed and unbrushed for too long, your pom may look like a completely different breed of dog. Luckily, all it takes is a bath to cleanse and condition the fur, a brush to remove the tangles and a good blow dry to return the fluffy volume to your dog's coat.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your pomeranian with a conditioning dog shampoo. Make sure you don't get shampoo or water in the dog's eyes, ears or nose.

    • 2

Towel-dry your dog's hair as much as you can. Brush out the damp hair to get rid of any tangles.

    • 3

Brush your pomeranian's hair in the direction of its face while you blow dry. Use long, slow strokes. Brushing the hair toward the face will give it volume. Make sure the blow dryer is on a low heat setting to avoid drying out the hair and skin.

Spray your pomeranian's hair with water using a spray bottle and brush out the dampened hair two to three times a week. Tangles can mat down the hair and decrease the volume.
