How to Bathe a Pomeranian After She Gives Birth

Pomeranians require tender loving care after they give birth. A female Pomeranian can give birth to three pups at one time. Following the birth, Pomeranian mothers will be exhausted and sore -- especially if they had to undergo a cesarean section. Bathing a Pomeranian after she gives birth is a simple undertaking. Take care to keep your Pomeranian calm and relaxed as you groom her back to her old self.

Allow 10 to 14 days following the birth of your Pomeranian's pups before brushing and bathing. Keep your Pomeranian in a relaxed position -- lying comfortably on her dog bed is fine. Prepare for post-birth bathing by carefully brushing the dead hair from her coat with a soft-bristled brush. Pet the dog as you remove the old hair.

Open a package of dry bath wet wipes. Remove one wipe at a time and press it gently to the Pomeranian's coat. Move the wipe back and forth and in small circles with low to medium pressure. Discard dirty wipes and use clean ones as necessary. Giving a dry bath is a wise way to keep your Pomeranian both clean and stress free following the trials of labor.

Continue the dry bath process to clean her entire body. Use fresh wipes to clean her head, snout and ears until she is fully cleansed. Wait another two to four weeks before taking her to a professional groomer for a standard, full body bath.
