Instructions
Before the Cut
Brush out the coat completely from head to toe with a pin brush. Remove all tangles and mats in the process.
Bathe the dog by wetting the coat and applying a Yorkshire terrier shampoo that is formulated for silky coats. Avoid rubbing the coat in circles and instead, run the fingers through it to ensure all dirt is removed. Rinse thoroughly.
Dry with a towel to remove most of the water from the coat, and use a blow dryer to finish the process.
Brush the coat into sections, starting at the ends and working toward the base next to the skin. Make sure to brush the stomach, the legs and behind the ears.
Cutting Process
Cut around the ears with a trimming scissor and remove excess hair on the inside of the ears, approximately one-third of its original length. Use an electric clipper with a(blade to clip the back of the ears into a V shape.
Trim the hair between pads of the feet where the hair is level with the pads using small scissors or portable electric clippers. Use clippers to trim around the feet, tracing the outline of the foot. Hold up the leg hair when trimming the feet, and then trim the leg hair.
Use a larger electric clipper to trim the underbelly and genital hairs short while maintaining the long, flowing outer coat.
Trim the coat either as a show cut or a puppy cut. The show cut entails leaving the hair long, while the puppy cut is shorter and uses a
or #7F blade.
Tie a bow in the center of the dog's head.
