How to Make Homemade Baths for Dogs

Dogs need to be bathed regularly to keep their skin and fur healthy. Dog baths help eliminate odors. Bathing dogs also relieves itchy and irritated skin and removes fleas. Instead of purchasing expensive dog shampoos, you can make your own at home with common household items that moisturize the skin, keep your dog healthy and save you money.

  1. Oatmeal

    • 1

Pour 1 cup of plain oatmeal into a blender.

    • 2

Pulse the oatmeal into a fine powder.

    • 3

Fill a bathtub with warm water until it comes up to the dog's chest.

    • 4

Add the oatmeal after you fill the bathtub. Stir the water to mix the powder until the water appears cloudy.

    • 5

Bathe your dog in the oatmeal bath. Allow the dog to soak in the solution for at least 15 minutes. The oatmeal will help soothe dry and scaly skin.

Combine the liquid dish soap, water and apple cider vinegar in a bowl.

    • 7

Add the glycerin to the solution. Stir gently to mix the shampoo ingredients. Add more water to dilute the soap if you desire.

Apply the homemade shampoo to the dog. Lather the shampoo and then rinse it off with warm water.
