Instructions

    • 1

Wash your dog with a quality shampoo and towel dry. Run a brush or comb through his hair before it is fully dry to remove any knots. Wait for his hair to dry completely before cutting it.

    • 2

Sit your dog on a table or other flat surface; using a table or counter will save your back from pain later on. Get him relaxed by talking to him in a soothing voice and giving him a treat.

    • 3

Use the longest clipper blades available or the high setting on the clippers to avoid cutting too short. Lay the blades flat on your dog's head and slowly move the clippers down the back of his head and down his back in long strokes. Trim your dog's hair in the same direction it is growing.

Lay your dog on his side to trim his sides and belly. If his hair is not long in these areas, use scissors to trim it as short as you want it.

Trim the hair on his face and around his ears using scissors. You also want to use scissors for his tail and the hairs on his paws between the pads. Use the scissors to trim the rest of his hair as short as you would like as the long clipper blades will trim it relatively long.
