Things You'll Need
- Towels
- High-velocity dryer with flat and round nozzle attachments
- Small slicker brush
- Wire-toothed comb
Instructions
Bathe your Bichon Frise and pat him dry with towels. Do not rub to remove excess water, this may cause additional tangling of your dog's coat.
Use the flat nozzle attachment to do the initial drying. Start at the front of the dog and work top to bottom using long, sweeping movements to dry the coat. Continue drying while making your way toward the back of your Bichon. Repeat this step until water is no longer spraying off of your dog's coat. At this point, the coat will be mostly dry.
Attach the round nozzle to the dryer. Turn up the power to maximum while using the nozzle to dry the coat in the same manner as before. Use maximum power on your Bichon's body and legs as long as it is well tolerated.
Fluff your Bichon's coat with a small slicker brush. Use alternating downward and upward strokes to gently pull curls straight.
Dry your Bichon's tail using a low setting on the dryer. Instead of force, you want the air to gently pass through the coat in this area to reduce matting. Dry your Bichon's face by using a low power. Cover their eyes and ears with your hand while using the dryer in that area. To get the fur to stand on the head, blow it forward from the back and then do the opposite. Run a wire-toothed comb through the coat, fluffing where needed to complete the look.
