Instructions
Brush the Pomeranian's coat thoroughly before bathing to remove dirt and loose hair and work out any mats or tangles that may be present. If this is not done, the mats will get worse and may be harder to remove after they've become wet.
Place a nonslip mat on the bottom of a sink or washtub and then fill the sink or tub with warm water. Do not allow the water to get too hot, which could end up burning your dog. The water level should reach about halfway up the Pomeranian's legs.
Lather up the shampoo and begin washing the dog at the neck if it has a flea problem; if no fleas are present, begin at the backside. Massage shampoo into the dog's neck, shoulders, back, belly and legs.
Rinse the Pomeranian's coat thoroughly until the water runs clear with no remaining suds. Make sure that you get all of the shampoo out, because any residue left behind may be irritating to the skin.
Clean the dog's face carefully with a soft, damp washcloth. Wipe around the dog's eyes and ears to get rid of any debris.
Dry the dog with a clean towel. Blot as much excess moisture as you can from the Pomeranian's coat and then wrap the dog in the towel. Take extra care to dry the ears to avoid an infection caused by moisture left behind. If you choose, you can use a blow dryer to dry your Pomeranian's coat; use a low setting and hold the dryer away from the dog to avoid scaring it.
