How to Order Food for Jail Inmates

If you have a loved one in jail, a great way to cheer him up is to order food for him. Currently, a comprehensive list of jails that permit people to order food for jail inmates is not available to the public. However there are jails that allow you to do this, although there are certain rules you must follow. For example, the food must be ordered from a certified vendor or the food must not exceed a certain weight.

Instructions

    • 1

Call the jail to see if there are any rules about ordering food for an inmate and which vendors you are allowed to order from. You cannot do this if the jail prohibits ordering food for its inmates.

    • 2

Go to the vendor's web page if the jail allows food from that vendor.

    • 3

Write in all of the appropriate information, including the jail's location. Additional information may include cell number, assignment number or placement number. Different vendors accept various forms of payment including debit, credit and checks.

    • 4

Select the food you want to send to the jail. See the weight-limit restriction and make sure you buy food that stays within that limit.

    • 5

Decide when you would like the food to be delivered. It is also possible to have a schedule for your order such as once a month or only on the holidays.

    • 6

Send your food order through the Internet.
