Pet Fur Gel Directions

Many large or upscale pet stores carry clear or dyed styling gel for dogs and cats. Like any other hair gel, the nontoxic product is useful for forming and holding hair into mohawks, spikes, bouffants and other fancy styles. With the proper precautions, pet gel is safe enough to use everyday. When styling your pet's hair, only use products specifically intended for cats and dogs.

Instructions

  1. Clear Gel

    • 1

Apply a small amount of the product to a small, bare area of your pet's skin to test for allergies. Check the area in 24 hours to see if a rash develops. If there is no rash, continue using the product as desired.

    • 2

Apply a dab of hair gel to your pet's fur and style it into the desired shape. Avoid the eye area and any areas that the pet can lick.

    • 3

Leave the hair gel in for as long as desired. To refresh your pet's hairstyle, mist the target area with water from a spray bottle, apply more gel, and reshape the area. There is no need to bathe the pet or wash the target area before applying more gel.

    • 4

Wash the styled area with pet shampoo to completely remove the gel.

    Dye Gel

    • 5

Wear rubber gloves when using the product and work in a tiled room to prevent staining skin and household surfaces.

Apply the dye gel to fur while still wet and allow it to sit for at least 15 minutes. Let it sit longer for richer color. Monitor your pet to ensure it doesn't lick the gel.

Rinse and dry your pet's fur. The dye will last through four to six washes.
