How to Clean Urine Off a Dog Without Bathing

The pungent aroma of dog urine is unpleasant, and if the dog gets urine on itself, it can make spending time with your pet unbearable. Bathing the dog is one way to remove urine, but bathing during cold weather increases the chance of the dog getting chilled. You can clean urine from your dog without bathing and putting the dog at risk.

Instructions

    • 1

Brush the dog thoroughly with a stiff-bristled dog brush. This loosens mats and tangles and removes dead hair that traps urine odor.

    • 2

Soak a washcloth in warm water and gently scrub urine spots on the coat. Spot-washing removes urine odor and stains without soaking the dog to the skin. Dry any damp spots vigorously with a wet towel.

    • 3

Coat urine spots with corn starch, and brush the corn starch through the hair. Corn starch is a natural stain lifter and will reduce offensive urine odors.

    • 4

Wipe the dog from head to toe with baby wipes. Baby wipes are designed to remove feces and urine, and will leave your dog's coat looking, and smelling, fresh and clean.

    • 5

Dust the dog with dry shampoo, and rub it into the coat. Dry shampoos are designed to lift stains and neutralize odors without water, and can be used even in cold weather. Leave the dry shampoo on for 10 minutes, and brush to remove excess powder.
