How to Get Your Pit Bull's Coat Shiny

Unlike German shepherds, collies, and many other breeds, pit bulls do not have an undercoat or double coat to maintain. This is good news for the pit bull owner, because it's easy to make and keep your dog's single, short coat shiny, soft and healthy. Pit bulls are beautiful, well-proportioned dogs, and a shiny coat will make them even more eye-catching. You can get your pit bull's coat shiny and healthy, and keep it that way with very little effort.

Instructions

Brush your pit bull regularly, at least twice a week to remove dust and other dirt that dull the coat. Brushing also distributes your dog's natural skin oils throughout the coat to make it healthy, soft, and shiny.

    • 2

Condition from the inside out. Add a fish oil capsule or a tablespoon of olive oil to your pit bull's evening meal. Fish oil and olive oil are full of omega-3 fatty acids which promote overall good health and will make your dog's short coat shine.

Wash your dog. Give your pit bull a bath once every four to six weeks using dog shampoo followed by dog conditioner. Use warm water -- not a cold garden hose -- and rinse all the shampoo and conditioner out of your dog's fur. A clean coat is a shiny coat.
