Small Dogs
-
Small dogs that do not shed outwardly make good travel companions; their miniature sizes enable them to be carried almost anywhere without the worry of having to vacuum your vehicle after every trip. Some of the more popular non-shedding small dogs, such as the miniature schnauzer, shih tzu, toy poodle, miniature poodle and cocker spaniel poodle mix, are easy to train and enjoy being spoiled. Other small dogs that do not shed include the affenpinscher, bichon frise, bolognese, Brussels griffon, Chinese crested, coton de tulear, Maltese, havanese, Italian highland, lowchen and basenji.
Medium-Build Dogs
-
Some medium-size dogs that do not shed are the Bedlington terrier, bergamasco, dandie dinmont terrier, Polish lowland sheepdog, puli, pumi, soft-coated wheaten terrier, standard schnauzer, Welsh terrier and kerry blue terrier. A well-liked, non-shedding medium-sized dog is the Chinese shar-pei; the dog's deep wrinkles and blue-black tongue and little-to-no shedding make it an unusual dog to own.
Large Dog Breeds
-
Large dogs provide a sense of protective security for dog owners. However, if the dog sheds, dog owners have a lot of hair to clean up. Dog lovers that prefer large dogs might consider non-shedding large dogs such as the giant schnauzer, Irish water spaniel, poodle, Portuguese water dog, wire-haired pointing griffon and Labrador retriever poodle mix.
Popular Small Terriers
-
Small terriers are considered non-shedding dogs. The more popular of the terriers, the Yorkshire terrier, was named by the American Kennel Club as the most popular dog in New York City in 2010, reports the New York Daily News. Other breeds of terriers such as the Boston terrier, lakeland terrier, silky terrier, border terrier, Australian terrier, Scottish terrier, Welsh terrier, Norfolk terrier, West Highland terrier, airedale terrier, cairn terrier, wire-haired fox terrier and Tibetan terrier are intelligent, gentle dogs that make good house pets because they will not shed all over the furniture.

What Dogs Do Not Shed Hair?
Technically, all dogs will shed some hair, some more than others, particularly during the spring and fall seasons. However, certain dogs do not shed outwardly; instead, they shed inwardly into their undercoats. These dogs are popular with dog lovers with allergies; in addition, they leave little, if any, hair around the house. Dog breeders constantly create new breeds of dogs that do not shed; many of the popular breeds of non-shedding dogs are promoted for their low maintenance.
