How to Remove Eye Tearing Stains

Eye tearing stains can effect the overall appearance of a dog's face and complexion of the fur underneath the eyes. The stains result from drainage of fluids from a dog's eye and excessive tearing caused by an infection and inflammation of the eye.. If you aren't sure whether your dog has tearing stains, check underneath the inner corner of your dog's eye. If the fur is pink or dark brown in color, apply a home-made solution consisting of heartburn and nausea medication to remove the stains.

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain a liquid nausea and heartburn medication. Both medications should be "over-the-counter" and can be easily obtained at your local pharmacy.

    • 2

Slowly pour the two medications together into a bowl while keeping the ratio 1 to 1. Depending on how much of the solution you need, pour the medication into a measuring cup for accuracy.

    • 3

Add cornstarch until the solution becomes a slight paste. Continue to mix the solution in order to disperse the cornstarch.

    • 4

Apply the solution onto your dog's tear stains. Make sure to cover the tear stained areas without getting the paste in your dog's eyes.

    • 5

Leave the paste on the face overnight. In the morning, use a soft cloth and warm water to rinse off the solution.
