If your dog has sensitive skin, it may spend much of its time scratching, which could lead to dandruff or a rash. Commercial pet shampoos, especially those that contain fragrances or dyes, can exacerbate skin problems. Store shampoos can also be needlessly expensive. Making your own dog shampoo allows you to adjust ingredients slightly to create the combination that works best for your dog. It also puts you in control of the dyes and perfumes that do -- or don't -- touch your dog's skin.
