Things You'll Need
- Tear stain remover
- Talcum powder
- Diaper rash ointment
- Cotton balls
Instructions
Bring your dog to the veterinarian to ensure there is not a specific problem that is causing your dog's eyes to tear. A blocked tear duct, diet or parasites also contribute to excessive tearing.
Buy a variety of commercial tear stain removers. There are many on the market, but it is good to try a few to see which one works best for your dog. Use the directions provided on the bottle and clean the eye stains once a week. If your bulldog has many wrinkles, be sure to get the remover in each of the crevices using cotton balls. You want to ensure all the dirt and bacteria is completely gone.
Dry the wet areas using the talcum powder. This will keep the folds caused by the wrinkles from collecting dirt and bacteria.
Apply diaper rash ointment as an added measure to keep the areas dry. Reapply it often and watch that your dog does not try to rub or lick it off.
