When Can I Bathe My Dogs Once They've Been Treated With Frontline Plus?

Frontline Plus is a flea and tick prevention medication for dogs and cats, which is applied once a month to the animal's skin. It is important that your pet does not get wet before the medication has time to take effect.
  1. Function

    • Frontline Plus is applied to a dog or cat's skin in liquid form through a one-time-use plastic applicator. It spreads over the animal's body through the natural oils of its skin and collects in the surface pores of its skin, where it continues to coat individual hairs over time.

    Suggested Use

    • The Frontline website explains that Frontline products "remain effective for 30 days, even if a pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep the dog or cat from getting wet until the application area appears dry, usually 24 hours." The website recommends that if you plan to apply Frontline Plus after a pet's bath, you should dry the pet completely before treating it with the medication.

    Tip

    • To make sure the treatment is effective, apply the liquid in a place where the animal cannot lick it off of its skin and hair, such as between the shoulder blades or on the back of the neck.
