Instructions
Brushing
Brush your dog's entire body using a rubber dog brush to loosen dead skin and dirt that may be built up on its skin.
Brush your dog again, this time using the slicker brush to remove any tangles from your dog's coat, remembering to brush the tail as well. You may skip this step for short haired breeds.
Brush the entirety of your dog for a third time, now using a bristle brush to catch any loose hair.
Bathing
Place a rubber bath mat in the bottom of your bath tub to prevent your dog from slipping. Fill the tub with 3 to 4 inches of lukewarm water.
Place dog in the tub and thoroughly wet its coat using a plastic water pitcher or bowl. Take care to avoid getting water in your dog's ears, eyes and nose.
Massage the shampoo into your dog's coat, starting at its head and working down to its tail.
Rinse your dog using fresh water from the tap. Make sure to completely rinse all shampoo from your dog's coat. Residual shampoo can irritate your dog's skin and cause dryness and flaking.
Remove your dog from the tub and dry its coat using a large towel. If your dog will tolerate it, a hairdryer can be used to help speed up drying.
