How to Use Frontline on Puppies

Frontline Plus is one of many over-the-counter flea and tick preventatives. The two primary ingredients in Frontline Plus are fipronil and S-methoprene. These ingredients disrupt the life cycle of pests and provide your pet with ongoing protection for four consecutive weeks. When the correct dose is applied as directed, Frontline Plus is considered safe for puppies 8 weeks of age and older, and it also is waterproof. Frontline Plus is sold to consumers in packages that contain three or six individual, pre-measured doses to make application easier.

Instructions

    • 1

Weigh your puppy and buy the appropriate package of Frontline Plus based on your puppy's weight.

    • 2

Remove individual dose pouch from package. Put on rubber gloves.

    • 3

Remove the plastic tab to expose the foil packet. Do this by cutting it off with scissors or peeling it away. Hold the disposable applicator away from your face and snap off the tip.

    • 4

Use your fingers to separate the hair between your puppy's shoulder blade and reveal the skin directly in the middle of the shoulder blades.

    • 5

Place the applicator directly on the skin and squeeze it out on a straight line on the skin you exposed. Empty the entire contents of the disposable applicator packet.

    • 6

Wash your hands and be careful petting your puppy in that area until the Frontline Plus has dried.
