Oster Nail Grinding Kit Instructions

The Oster nail grinding kit is a set of grooming tools that are used to file down the nails of both dogs and cats. Instead of clipping the nails off using a blade, the Oster nail grinder has rough, rotating stones that slowly smooth down the pet's nails much like an emery board does for human nails. Although the basic usage of the tool is quick to master, it can take some time to adjust your pet to the noise.

Instructions

      Insert the clamping jaw into the top of the grinder tool and push in until you hear a click.

      Insert the spigot nut on top of the clamping jaw and insert the metal rod of the grinding stone into the top of the spigot nut. Twist the spigot nut clockwise until it will no longer move to secure the stone.

      Plug in the grinder tool and push the power button forward to the "On" position. The power button is located on the top back of the handle.

      Pick up the grinder and hold it like a pencil. Turn the speed control knob on the back of the grinder to the lowest setting. You can increase the speed later once you get used to using the tool.

      Hold the grinder near your pet and allow the pet to get used to the noise. Place the handle, not the grinder, on the pet's paws so it can get used to the vibrations.

      Restrain your pet so it cannot bite at the cord or the grinder. Pick up one of your pet's paws in your hand and press down gently on top of one of the claws to extend it from the paw.

      Hold the rotating grinder stone against the bottom of the pet's nail and move it toward the tip of the nail. Hold the stone against both sides of the nail until the nail is the desired length. Repeat the process to trim the remainder of the pet's nails.
