Homemade Natural Dog Shampoo

From time to time, you need to bathe your dog. While many dogs do some grooming on their own, to prevent pest infestation and keep your dog's coat in optimal condition, bathing is necessary. Making homemade dog shampoo not only can save you money but in some cases it can also prevent skin irritation from chemical product use. Homemade shampoo is typically milder than store-bought dog shampoo, which also makes it ideal for dogs who have skin conditions or allergies.

Sterilize the container you plan to mix your shampoo in. Do this by either boiling it or washing it thoroughly in a disinfecting dish soap.

    • 2

Fill the empty container with two cups of water. Add 2 tsp. of liquid castile soap, 2 tbsp. of aloe vera and 1 tsp. of vegetable or olive oil.

    • 3

Put the lid on the container. Shake the contents of the container to blend the shampoo ingredients. Shake again before each use.

    • 4

Add pennyroyal and eucalyptus essential oils for flea prevention. Use a sterilized eyedropper to add two to three drops of each one. If only using one of the oils, use two to three drops; do not double the amount.

Place the cap on the container. Shake the contents again to blend the essential oil.
