How to Get Pet Hair out of a Car

If you have pets, you likely have pet hair all over your home. Your carpet and upholstery attract pet hair, which gets embedded in the fibers. You might have given up on wearing black clothing long ago and gone dozens of lint rollers since you got your pets. One place you might not expect to find pet hair is your car, but it's there. Your pets shed hair when you take them in the car, even if they're in animal carriers, and you bring the pet hair into the car on your clothing. Luckily, there are ways to get rid of it.

Brush your pet before you put it in the car. This will help decrease the amount of pet hair in the car in the first place. You can also run a lint roller over your clothes before getting into the car.

    • 2

Wrap packing tape around your hand, with the sticky side facing outward. Pat the palm of your hand over your car seat. The packing tape is extra sticky, and because it's wrapped around your hand, you can apply pressure and have more control than you would have with a lint roller.

Replace the packing tape once it loses its stickiness, and repeat the process. For small areas, such as between seats or in corners, wrap packing tape around just one finger to lift the dog hair.

Use a fabric softener sheet to lift additional pet hair from your car's upholstery. Fabric softener sheets are made to pull things like hair off of surfaces. Keep a package in your car and repeat this process often.
