Those include certification by the International Professional Groomers, certification by and member of the International Professional Groomers and certified master groomer. Requirements for this dog grooming school are at least a high school diploma or GED and a love of animals. Once accepted, students must also have a current tetanus vaccination. Cornerstone does not accept any transfer credits or allow for credits from previous training, education or experiences. The program is certified with the state of Ohio Board of Career Colleges and Schools. There is a $100 application fee as of 2010.

    Diamond Cut Dog Grooming School

    • Nancy McClain, owner of the Diamond Cut Dog Grooming School, has been professionally grooming dogs for more than 40 years. She has taught students for more than 35 years and began her own dog grooming school, which is approved by the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools and registered with the State Board of Proprietary Schools. The course is 80 hours and includes grooming various breeds, table and cage sanitation, nail clipping, proper scissoring techniques, first aid, handling aggressive dogs and fleas, worms and ticks. The program also covers basics as well as essentials to working for a business or owning a business such as registering a trade name, working for a shop, scheduling appointments and customer services techniques.

    Ohio Academy of Pet Styling

    • Classes at the Ohio Academy of Pet Styling are taught by Gail Rudowicz Schroll, the educational director and head instructor. The curriculum includes dog grooming theories, practical skills training and hands-on experience, demonstrations and working with an instructor that has been in the industry for nearly 30 years. While the instructor specializes in particular breeds, the curriculum teaches handling and care of various dog breeds. Prospective students are encouraged to visit the school.
