How to Get Rid of Black Pimples on Dachshunds

Dachshunds make fantastic pets, but as a breed, are rather susceptible to skin problems, including itchiness, rashes and pimples. It's therefore important to keep your dachshund's skin and fur in good condition with a general regime of cleaning and care. If pimples do appear--most often on the underside of the dachshund where the dog's fur is thinnest--they can be dealt with using methods similar to those used by human pimple sufferers.

Instructions

    • 1

Run a warm bath for your dachshund. If you don't have a bathtub, a large sink or other tub will work fine, as long as your dog has room to stand in the sink or tub without twisting its back.

    • 2

Remove your dog's collar, and place the dachshund in the water.

    • 3

Wet and fully lather the dog's body with dog shampoo. Do not use human shampoo on your dog.

    • 4

Use a face cloth to gently scrub the pimpled area of your dog.

    • 5

Thoroughly rinse all shampoo from your dog's body using clean, warm water. Be especially sure that the face and eye areas are rinsed well.

    • 6

Check to see if any pimples remain on your dog. If pimples remain, you can move to the next (slightly gross) stage of pimple removal. At least this shows your devotion to your hound.

    • 7

Place your index fingers on either side of a single pimple, and squeeze gently until the center of the pimple pops out of your dog's skin. Wipe up this substance with a clean tissue.

    • 8

Squeeze each pimple individually until your dog's skin is clear of zits. If the dachshund finds pimple removal to be distressing, or if your dog has many pimples, you may wish to split this process into several separate sessions.

    • 9

Clean the skin from which pimples have been removed with clean water and a soft cloth.

    • 10

Minimize the risk of pimples redeveloping by regularly bathing your dog. Also ensure that your dachshund's bed, blankets, and general environment are kept clean.
