Some products will only kill fleas, not their eggs or larvae. As an added guard against pests, some products will also kill and repel mosquito.       Find out if the product is applied orally or topically. Depending on your pet, one method might be easier over the other. If the product is applied topically, it is important to know whether or not the product is waterproof. If not, remember not to give your pet a bath for as long as directed.

      Figure out how long the product lasts before another application is needed. Most topical and oral products last for a month before second application is needed.

      Find out how fast the product works. Most products will kill existing fleas within 24 hours, with the fastest killing fleas within 4 hours.
