How to Get Rid of Tear Stains on a White Puppy Naturally

Although white-colored fur is beautiful on puppies, it does make tear-staining easy to see. Tear-staining are the unsightly lines that occur under the dog's eyes and often reach down to its nose or mouth. The staining can be red, brown or even black. Tear-staining can occur on any color dog; however, it is much easier to see on a dog that has white or light-colored fur. Fortunately, there are ways to remove the stains, so that all of the focus can return to your puppy's adorable face.

Instructions

    • 1

Mix equal parts hydrogen peroxide and an over-the-counter antacid and laxative medication containing magnesium hydroxide and available in a white liquid that looks like milk.

    • 2

Add corn starch to the mixture to make a paste. Keep adding corn starch until the mixture becomes thick enough to adhere to the puppy's hair without dripping off.

    • 3

Apply mineral oil or liquid tears ointment to your puppy's eyes to protect them before applying the paste. Consult with your veterinarian as to which would work best for your puppy.

    • 4

Gently rub a small amount of paste directly into the stained hair with your fingers. Try not to get any of the mixture on your puppy's skin to avoid irritation.

    • 5

Leave the mixture on the hair for about four hours. Wash it out thoroughly with warm water. Apply a thin coat of a diaper-rash ointment to the skin after the area is clean and dry. Use the paste as needed to remove tear stains.
