Instructions
Carefully clip around the site of sarcoptic mange infestation. This will be evident by the irritation of the skin and potentially a yellow crust over the skin.
Place the dog in the wash basin. Wet and then bathe the dog with the benzoyl peroxide shampoo. This can be found at most pet grooming stores or pet supply stores. It may be necessary to purchase the shampoo from a veterinarian though. Be sure to use this shampoo on the entire dog, paying special attention around the eyes, nose and mouth. Be sure to thoroughly treat the infected areas of the dog's body. Rinse the dog with clean water after shampooing.
Apply organophosphate dip to the entire dog. It is important to administer the medication to the entire dog, so care must be taken when applying the medication to the areas round the mouth, eyes and nose of the dog. This medication can be irritating to the dog and to the person administering the medication so gloves may be necessary. Rinse any excess medication off the dog with clean water.
Repeat the process as necessary to completely rid the dog of the sarcoptic mange.
Destroy and replace all bedding and toys of the dog to prevent the re-infestation of the dog. Collars and leashes may also need to be destroyed or treated with the shampoo and dip to prevent re-contamination.
