Things You'll Need
- Bathtub
- Rubber mat
- Dog shampoo
- Dog brush
- Towel
- Hair dryer
Instructions
Place your dog into the bathtub. To ensure that the dog does not slip, place a rubber mat on the tub's floor.
Pour water over the entirety of the dog until its fur is well saturated, paying special attention not to pour water into the dog's eyes, nose or ears.
Lather a few ounces of shampoo into the dog's back end and hind legs.
Carefully lather the dog's face, the outside of the ears and around the nose. Do not allow the shampoo to enter any of these cavities.
Gently rinse the shampoo from the dog's face immediately after applying the shampoo.
Bathe the remainder of the dog's body. To reach the underside of the dog, lift its front legs and place them on the edge of the bathtub. Offer your dog a treat with one hand and bathe it with the other if your pooch is not cooperating.
Rinse the rest of the shampoo off the dog's body. Keep rinsing until all the shampoo is completely gone and the water is running clear. Your dog may suffer an allergic reaction if you leave any shampoo in its fur. Brush out the dog's fur during the rinsing to help remove any excess, especially if the dog is shedding. Place a strainer over the drain to help avoid fur from clogging you drain.
Remove any excess water by towel drying your dog.
Allow your dog to air dry in a warm place, or use a hair dryer if your dog will permit you to do so.
