Things You'll Need
- Slicker brush
- Bluing shampoo
- Blow or force dryer
- Detangling spray
- Tear stain remover
Instructions
Brush your Bichon Frise̵7;s hair once a day with a slicker brush. The brushing will prevent tangles and mats by removing any undercoat or hair shed on the bichon.
Bathe your Bichon once a month. To keep the coat extra white, use a bluing shampoo designed to enhance the color of your dog̵7;s coat. Be sure to brush and remove any tangles or mats before bathing your Bichon, as water can make it worse.
Dry your Bichon̵7;s hair with a blow or force dryer, if possible. Not only will drying the hair create volume, but it will also prevent the damp hair from become knotted.
Brush the hair after it is dried to remove any tangles that might have formed. Use a detangling spray to make removal easier for both you and your Bichon.
Use a tear stain remover as needed on your bichon. Tear stains are darkened hair under a dog̵7;s eyes that are caused by blocked tear ducts. The stains show up easily because the Bichon̵7;s hair is white. A stain remover will take the dark color out of the hair and can help prevent future staining.
Cut your Bichon̵7;s hair yourself, or take the dog to a groomer as needed. The body hair and hair around the feet, genitals, face and legs should be trimmed or cut every three to five weeks, according to PetGroomer.com.
