Homemade Dog Shampoo for Fleas

Fleas are wingless insects that can infest a dog's coat. Not only do they cause scratching, but they can cause flea allergy dermatitis, tapeworm and anemia. Many solutions used to treat fleas can cause dryness and skin problems in dogs. A natural flea shampoo can effectively kill fleas and keep a dog's skin healthy.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp. peppermint oil
  • 2 tbsp. eucalyptus oil
  • 2 tbsp .white cedar oil
  • 1/4 cup citronella oil
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Plastic shampoo bottle

Instructions

      Mix 2 cups warm water, 2 tbsp. peppermint oil, 2 tbsp. eucalyptus oil, 2 tbsp. white cedar oil, 1/4 cup citronella oil and 1/4 cup of white vinegar in a bowl.

      Pour the mixture into an empty plastic shampoo bottle.

      Give your dog a flea bath by thoroughly drenching the dog's coat in water.

      Pour a quarter-sized amount of shampoo onto the dog's coat, and massage it all over the dog's body and head. Rinse out all of the shampoo with water.
