Flea Treatment With Vinegar & Dish Soap

Instead of purchasing expensive flea treatments, you can use a homemade vinegar and dish soap solution to get rid of fleas. Fleas do not enjoy the vinegar odor and will leave your pet or the area where the vinegar resides. Dish soap kills and removes fleas from animals safely. When you use these two ingredients in combination, they will effectively remove fleas from your pet. However, these ingredients simply treat the fleas and they will not prevent them from coming back. Always consult with your veterinarian about flea treatments and preventions before applying them to your pet.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a large cup halfway full with dish soap. Pour apple cider vinegar into the cup to fill it the rest of the way.

    • 2

Soak your pet's fur with warm water. Fill a bathtub with warm water. You only need 3 to 4 inches of water in the bathtub. Use a clean cup to run water over the animal's fur.

    • 3

Pour the vinegar and soap solution over your pet. Be careful not to get the solution in their eyes.

    • 4

Lather the solution into your pet's fur. Massage it deep into his coat, then rinse the solution away with clean warm water.

    • 5

Follow up the treatment by washing your pet with animal shampoo. Soap products can be harsh on her skin, so you want to make sure that you soothe her skin with an approved pet shampoo.

    • 6

Fill a spray bottle halfway full of vinegar. Pour water into the bottle to fill it up the rest of the way. Shake it to mix the water and vinegar together. Spray the solution onto your pet's fur, then use your fingers to work the solution into his coat. You can also dip a comb or brush into the solution if your pet does not like the spray bottle.

Spray the vinegar and water solution on your pet's bed. This will keep flies and fleas away.
